I WOULD like to express many thanks to Blackburn Lions on behalf of my mother and myself.
When my mother had to move property due to ill health, we could not find any help anywhere to help her move, even though she is a pensioner.
We tried welfare advice; the Department of Social Security said no because she was not receiving any benefits; social services said no because she did not have a social worker. It was just one vicious circle.
She has worked all her life - and this is how she was treated. If you are on benefits almost all your life, or need any help from Social Services, well you'll get everything.
So does it really pay to work all your life and not be able to get anything in return when you need it?
Blackburn Lions deserve every penny donated to them. It almost brought me to tears when I got a reply from them to say yes, they would help.
Many thanks.
S ALMOND (Mrs), Whitebirk Road, Intack, Blackburn.
