NEWTON Hall Amateur Swimming Club had a busy time leading up to the summer holidays.
A win at Preston confirmed their unbeaten status as Sub League champions for the fifth successive year.
Early individual wins by Anna Brigden, Andrew Hodgson, Hollie Jones and Lisa How - along with four out of the six relay wins - kept Newton Hall in front of a resurgent Chorley and Preston.
With Nicola Butterworth winning twice and Lisa How again winning and wins by Janette Rogerson and Jane Whittle ensured a close but comfortable win for Newton Hall.
Final scores: Newton Hall 107, Chorley 100, Preston 93.
A strong contingent of Newton Hall swimmers entered the North Wales Holywell Open meet and many of them brought back a good haul of medals.
For the 10 year and under age group, Hollie Jones was exceptional with 1st in the fly, 2nd in the breaststroke and freestyle events and 3rd in the backstroke.
For the boys, Andrew Haughton won the breaststroke.
For the 11/12 year age group Lewis Jones excelled with win in the fly and freestyle and 2nd place in the backstroke and 5th in the breaststroke.
Mitchell Blakemore came 6th in the backstroke and fly and Janette Rogerson was 5th in the fly.
All five of the 13/14 year age group reached finals with Mark McCartney leading the way with four wins in the breaststroke, fly and backstroke but was piped into 2nd place in the breaststroke.
Mark Brewell reached three finals, breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke, coming 5th in each and Richard Mineur, the youngest in the age group, came in 4th in the backstroke.
Jane Whittle for the firsts came 2nd in the freestyle, 3rd in the breaststroke and 5th in the fly, while Nicola Butterworth was 2nd in the fly and 5th in the freestyle.
Adam Carlisle for the 15/16 year age group won the freestyle and came 4th in the breaststroke and backstroke.
For the 17 years and over Helen Whittle had a 1,2,3 by winning the freestyle, coming 2nd in the breaststroke and 3rd in the fly.
