THERE'LL be a sad sayonara for one teacher when Norbreck Primary breaks up for the summer.

Kazumi Sawada is saying goodbye to pupils after spending a year teaching them all things Japanese, from origami to calligraphy.

The 29-year-old arrived in September for her first visit to Britain through an internship after deciding she wanted to improve her English and, according to Norbreck head Ray Fisher, Kazumi will be greatly missed by everyone.

"She has introduced the enthralled pupils to the basic Japanese language, taught them her way of life in Japan and fascinated children with her descriptions of Japanese food," he said.

Blackpool has become quite a special place for Kazumi, reminding her of her own home city, Tokohame near the Pacific Ocean. "I will be very sad to leave," she told the Citizen.

"When I arrived here there were many beautiful Illuminations and I have enjoyed meeting new people.

"Everyone has been friendly."

She admitted life here is totally different from home - food, lifestyle, the weather and schools - but one thing that remains the same is children's love of computer games.

And she had a message of thanks to everyone: "I would like to say a big thank you to Norbreck, and especially to my host family. "They have made me feel very welcome.
