HAYDOCK Park Racecourse enjoyed a record Sunday attendance of 14,625 as Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's testimonial year got off to a flyer.
The charity raceday crowd - thousands of them first-time visitors to a racecourse and basking in temperatures in the 70s, almost topped Haydock's modern-day attendance record of 15,000, set two years ago. The Manchester United players were mobbed in the parade ring before the feature race.
