FUN and frolics are in store for everyone this Saturday (July 17) at Bispham and Norbreck's final gala of the century.

Made up of everything from morris dancing to brass bands, the procession will leave Bispham gala field on All Saints Road at 1pm and make its way through the village which has seen many changes over the years.

The route then passes All Hallows Church, through the village before making its way to Norbreck and back to the gala field.

Blackpool Mayor Bill Burgess will open the gala and Mayoress Betty Hammand will perform the crowning of gala queen Louise Bateson at 3.15pm on the field.

Local scouts, cub scouts, guides and brownies are taking part along with fancy dress classes and many colourful floats.

The gala queen and her retinue also promise a grand show this year with Clair Jessop playing Louise's Prince Charming.

Morris dancers from Bispham will be accompanied by visiting troupes and the Tornado Morris dancers. They will be performing at the Old England public house, Bispham Conservative Club, Norbreck shops and Guildford Avenue shops and culminate their skills in a competition at 4.15pm.

Foot tapping beats will accompany the procession from Bispham Parish Church Silver Band, St Annes Pipe Band, 1st Bispham Boys and Girls Brigade Band and Thornton Cleveleys Band.

Floats will assemble at 11.45am at the Bispham College car park, Ashfield Road, for judging. The fancy dress classes will be judged at noon on the gala field and the procession prizes distributed at 2.45pm.

Chairman of the gala, Nick Hamilton, would like to thank Bispham Conservative Club for raising £700 towards gala funds and all those who contribute to the continued success of the gala.
