FLEETWOOD will rumble as 300 vintage trams, fire engines, cars, bikes and vans trundle into town for the port's traditional Tram Sunday this weekend (July 18).
The highlight of the festival will be an 11.30am parade of trams from the Victorian era to the present, together with penny-farthings. It will be led by the coast's three mayors, with bands, dancers and town criers winding through the town's main streets.
Lord Street will be lined with vintage marvels, especially emergency vehicles to fit the 1999 theme of 999 - including antique fire tenders, police training vehicles from the 1930s, ambulances, AA and mountain rescue vans.
In addition, a Victorian steam galloper - a magnificent roundabout of gleaming horses - will be stationed in London Street.
Clowns, trade stands, charity stalls and fairground rides add to the throng, while the bands and entertainers will perform in the streets and parks throughout the afternoon.
An army display team will be in Euston Park and North Fylde Brass Band in a marquee at St Peter's Church.
Town centre roads will be closed throughout the day, but visitors can still park along the seafront or in peripheral car parks.
Tram Sunday - which last year celebrated the centenary of the Blackpool to Fleetwood line - is organised by the Fleetwood Transport Festival Committee on a non-profit-making basis.
