Lancashire Lynx 8 Whitehaven Warriors 21
Lancashire Lynx never managed to get into it as Whitehaven cruised to victory - the third time this season that ex-Lynx boss Kevin Tamati has taken Whitehaven to victory over them.
Lynx took an early lead through a Robert Rose penalty, but they were soon on the back foot as they failed to control the ball and showed a distinct lack of distribution skills throughout.
Whitehaven's tactics were spot on, something which gave Tamati plenty to smile about when he left Victory Park late on Friday evening.
But for Lynx coach Steve Hampson, the result means he had to go back to the drawing board to try and find out where things went wrong.
Several improved performances of late were soon forgotten as Lynx slipped back into old habits, and Hampson believes the game was a massive step backwards.
He said: "If you don't control the ball, you don't win the game.
"I was very disappointed because we made schoolboy errors which professional players shouldn't be making.
"We went backwards not forwards and the game just drifted away from us. Whitehaven weren't that much better than us. It was really frustrating.
