TALK about a record delivery! Blackpool garage proprietor Mike Bentley was astonished when a letter posted in Cleveleys reached him in just six hours.
Mike, 53, who runs the MGM Direct car warehouse, had asked a client to send him a crucial registration number certificate and was surprised when it reached him at 8.30am the next morning.
But he was amazed when he saw that the letter had been postmarked in Cleveleys at 2am that morning - meaning the certificate had completed its journey from the sorting office in next to no time.
Mike explained: "A customer wanted a BMW which needed a registration certificate. But the certificate had gone back to the previous owner and had to be sent to me. The guy with the certificate posted it to me at around 11pm - and lo and behold, it arrived by 8.30am the next day.
"People are quick to criticise the postal system, but nobody seems to bother when things go right.
"The funny thing is that I use Simply The Best as my company slogan - but it looks like Royal Mail were simply the best this time."
A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: "We deliver more than nine out of ten first class letters the following day, though in this area we have a local collection and delivery network which means that we can sometimes exceed our own delivery standards.
"We are delighted to have been able to deliver this letter so promptly which is down to the diligence of our staff in Cleveleys and Blackpool."
