A superb unbeaten innings of 80 from Stuart Catterall steered Leyland Daf to their third victory of the season when they beat second-placed St Annes in a pulsating finish at Vernon Road.
And now for Morecambe in the first round of the Vaux Bitter Cup!
With the league programme suspended for a week, Leyland Daf entertain the seasiders in what will be a tough test of Daf's credentials.
Morecambe, who are a good all-round side with depth in batting and bowling, are currently fifth in the league but Daf must be full of confidence after sending St Annes to their first home defeat of the season in the league.
Put in to bat, Leyland Daf lost their first wicket at 20 when James Atkins was lbw to St Annes professional Dave Callaghan for seven.
Six runs later James Aspinall was cleaned bowled by Dave Callaghan for two and opener Neil Dasgupta went with the score on 54, caught by Russ Bradley off John Cotton for 20.
Stephen John and Catterall added 28 runs for the fourth wicket before the former was caught by Callaghan off John Cotton for 12.
Then Catterall and Alan Richardson featured in an unbroken fifth wicket partnership of 79.
The former was undefeated with 80 and the latter hit 21.
Catterall faced 122 balls and hit 10 fours and a six as Leyland Daf reached 161-4 off their 50 allotted overs.
Daf got a dream start when John caught and bowled Adrian Darlington and the home side were 1-1.
Bobby Denning and Callaghan took the score on to 38 before Simon Hogan bowled Callaghan for 23.
St Annes collapsed to 91-7 but an eighth-wicket partnership of 54 between 18-year-olds Adam Cotton and Joe Davies put them back into contention.
However, Davies was run out for 19 and St Annes lost their last two wickets for only six runs.
Adam Cotton was top scorer with 33, while David Makinson bowled superbly and took 4-36 from 20 overs.
