MANY homeworkers throughout Greater Manchester are still not in receipt of the National Minimum Wage.
That's the claim being made by Greater Manchester Homework Project.
The project claims that some have lost work or are frightened to question their status. But there are also examples of employers who are complying with the law.
Both the National Minimum Wage Act and regulations specifically address the situation of those who work in their own home, whether they are paid on a piece-work basis or at an hourly rate.
Greater Manchester Homeworking Project is keen to talk to homeworkers about their current pay rates and experience in relation to the new wage regulations.
This will be done totally confidentially in order to provide evidence of the impact of the National Minimum Wage on homeworkers.
Information will be used for research purposes. The project will ring callers back in order to save on telephone costs.
Any homeworker in the Bury area who wishes to take part can phone (0161) 953 4118.
