THE grounds of a Parr primary school have been transformed into an environmental haven thanks to a joint venture between The Mersey Forest and Runcorn-based ICI Chlor-Chemicals.
Pupils at Allanson Street Primary can now take advantage of the new child and environmentally-friendly play areas, which include new quiet seating areas and paths, special educational areas for nursery school children and more than 1,500 new trees.
The completed development, which marked National School Grounds Week, was part-funded by ICI but the school also received grants of £3,000 and £1,000 from the Mersey Forest and the Countryside Agency to carry out playground improvements. The Mersey Forest team also provided expert planning advice and the services of a landscape designer.
