A COMPUTER firm has joined forces with council bosses to help local schools.
Old PCs no longer needed by Blackburn with Darwen Council are refurbished either by council staff or by MGH Reclaim, of Darwen, under a recycling scheme set up this year.
Machines which would cost too much to refurbish are sold to MGH Reclaim.
The council then buys back the PCs at no extra cost and the modernised PCs are distributed to schools across Blackburn and Darwen.
More than 60 machines have been handed out through the scheme in the last six months.
"This project is part of our ongoing commitment to make the most of council resources," said councillor Andy Kay, chairman of the regeneration department. "The opportunity to recycle redundant resources is an essential part of our strategy."
