A TELEGRAM from the Queen brought an extra sparkle to diamond wedding anniversary celebrations.
Wilfred Smith, 86, and his wife Clara, 83, were thrilled to receive congratulations from Buckingham Palace on their 60th anniversary.
The couple, who have lived in Beardsworth Street, Little Harwood, for more than 50 years, celebrated quietly with their family.
Wilfred worked as a foreman at Parcel Express and later in the despatch department of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, while Clara worked at the National Mill Stores, Blackburn, and later at the Crispy Cob bakers, Little Harwood.
Clara is still kept busy knitting for their daughter, son, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
