YOUNG and old gathered to step back in time for the annual Roman weekend in Ribchester.
The colourful event featured displays by Portsmouth-based re-enactment group Legio Secunda Augusta.
Visitors took part in the impressive military drills which included firing catapults and rounds of artillery.
Demonstrations took place all weekend.
The traditional art exhibition was staged by father and son team Malcolm and Simon Fryer, who are originally from East Lancashire.
They were showing their latest collection of sculptures and paintings for the first time in a joint display.
Ribchester Roman Museum has already raised £350,000 towards a major improvement scheme thanks to donations from the Lottery Heritage Fund, European Regeneration Development scheme, North West Museum Service and Lancashire Waste Services.
A further £21,754 needs to be found to reach the appeal target.
The historic facility is expected to be refurbished and extended next year.
