JULY 20, 1969, was the day after my mother's birthday and also the first week of Blackburn holidays.
My parents and I went to Butlin's at Skegness. It was a warm summer and both TV rooms were full and I could only see a blurred picture.
Every now and again someone said: "Have they landed yet?"
The following morning, it was quiet at the camp and my father bought the Daily Express. Talking to someone he said: "Houston (he pronounced it as 'Houseton') done a good job."
When we arrived home, I bought the Lancashire Evening Telegraph Special and I got interested in space.
Nowadays, I don't take much interest in it and, as for science fiction, I don't like it.
