PEOPLE working in tourism in Pendle are being urged to join forces to put the area even more firmly on the map.
They have been asked to join the Pendle Tourism Development Association (PTDA), which brings together people, firms and organisations working in the industry.
Carole Mitson, the PTDA's chairman, said: "We are looking for more members to make sure all tourism businesses get a say and can work together to bring real economic benefits to the area. "The aim is to promote and strengthen tourism in Pendle by working in co-operation."
Top of the agenda for the association is making sure it has an impact on Pendle's first ever tourism strategy which is being drawn up on behalf of Pendle Council for completion in the autumn.
"Ideas and advice from the PTDA will make a real difference in finding new investment for the tourism industry in Pendle," explained Carole.
The next PTDA meeting will include a presentation from Haworth's tourism association on its success in drawing visitors to the popular spot.
Pendle's main claim to tourism "fame" is its association with the story of the Lancashire witches, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and its industrial heritage.
