A PETROL bomb was thrown at a pub window, shattering the glass as a woman and her three-year-old son slept above.
Miss Kerry Duckworth, of Leamington Hotel, Cheltenham Road, Blackburn, called the fire brigade after a milk bottle full of petrol was thrown against a ground floor window at 1.41am.
Leading firefighter Tony Crook, of Blackburn Fire Brigade, said the milk bottle did not go through the window but the woman was frightened when she saw blazing petrol fumes billowing up past her first floor window.
A 999 operator talked to her until firefighters arrived.
Mr Crook said: "The pub window was thick glass so the milk bottle did not go through. If it had been a normal household window, it would have gone through and caused a serious fire."
Miss Duckworth and her son Lewis Moir, three, were unharmed. A window frame was blackened by the fire.
Blackburn Police were also called to the scene and are investigating the incident.
