THE entries for the Lancashire Road Club 25-mile time trial on the Garstang course on Sunday morning were obviously affected adversely by the promotion of the Central Lancashire Road Club '25' on the more popular Tarleton-based course near Southport.
Fifty-one entries were received for the Garstang event with almost the fully subscribed number of 120 enlisting for Tarleton event. Next season organisers should note the close proximity of the two courses.
Fastest local riders was the 58min 08secs of Fraser Snape of the North Lancs RC on the Southport road with other times on this course being Malcolm Eccles, Rossendale Road Club (1hr 4mins 46secs) and Mal Gill (1hr 5mins 32secs), Steve Adair (1hr 6mins 33secs) and Ralph Pilkington (1hr 6mins 51secs) (all NLRC).
The event was won by Mark Isherwood of the Southport Road Club in 55mins 13secs.
On the Garstang course best of our East Lancs riders was Neil Cooper of Darwen (58mins 16secs), Dave Brown (58mins 49secs) and Bob Jones (1hr 2mins 51secs) (all NLRC) while Sue Cheetham of the Blackburn and District CTC won the first ladies award with a time of 1hr 5mins 24secs.
Overall winner of this event was Darren Perry of Preston Wheelers (54mins 50secs).
