THREE East Lancashire athletes travelled to Fort William for the fourth round of the British Fell Running Championships on Saturday.
Jack Holt of Clayton, who took fourth in the M50 category, was the highest finisher, logging 35:18 for the 3.5m Melantee race.
Fellow M50 Ken Taylor from Rossendale Harriers was only seconds behind in 35:36, Dave Walker from Clayton clocked 36:44. Race winner was Borrowdale's Gavin Bland.
Lancashire Evening Telegraph photographer Steve Bateson was involved in a dramatic rescue on Ben Nevis the following day. A lady athlete fell and hit her head at the Half Nevis Fell Race. Steve, who was a spectator, tended to the runner until, the rescue helicopter arrived.
