THE North West Track Championships of the British Cycling Federation are currently being run off on Wednesday evenings at the open air stadium at Kirkby near Liverpool with competitors from Lancashire, Lakeland, Manchester and Merseyside involved.
Already members of the Blackburn and District CTC racing section have been making their mark thanks to Shaun Pearson who has claimed two silver medals to date with some excellent riding.
Shaun, of Pleckgate, Blackburn, clocked up an impressive time of one minute 16.4 seconds for the 1,000-metre time trial , bettered only by Bolton star David Heald.
Heald also took gold in the sprint with Pearson again in the silver spot.
Blackburn and District CTC now lead the favourites Liverpool Mercury by three-and-a-half points overall, thanks to spirited riding by Chris Lee of Barrow, near Whalley, who amassed 16 points in the Deeside Decider event.
