TELEPHONE worker Jim Smith dialled up the love of his life when he met Joan.
And 60 years later the happy couple have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Jim and Joan met through friends and married at the since demolished St George's Presbyterian church in Preston New Road, Blackburn.
They lived in London Road before moving to Hillcrest Road, Langho where they have lived for almost 40 years.
Jim, 85, worked as a planning officer in telecommunications for the GPO and won the Imperial Service Medal 20 years ago for his service to the industry.
Joan, 80, used to work for Mullards, Prestige and later at Calderstones in the dining rooms.
The couple have two daughters, Rhona and Sharon who both live locally and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
And the secret of such a long and happy marriage? "We have our arguments like anyone else but we've always made up!" said Joan.
