SOUTH RIBBLE'S mini 'World Cup' Kwik Cricket tournament was fought out by enthusiastic youngsters in the summer sunshine.
Five local primary schools attended the inaugural event at Vernon's Cricket Club, Factory Lane, Penwortham. It had been put together by the South Ribble Borough Council Cricket Forum in partnership with the South Ribble Sports Development Team.
Moss Side County Primary School - a team which included both boys and girls - won the competition and a trophy sponsored by Preston solicitors Meloy Whittle Robinson.
Peter Meloy, chairman of the Forum, said: "It was a lot of fun for the children and it was educational as well.
