SO Gordon Brown is going to waste millions more on all the families 'living in poverty', is he?
Most of these folk already receive Family Credit, Child Benefit, and can find money for cars, drinking, smoking, drugs, computers, etc.
In the 1950s, my parents had to bring me up without these hand-outs.
They had to work for what little we had (no car, telephone, or holidays abroad), but we didn't shout poverty when things got rough.
People today can always find money for everything they want, and they always will.
It's not a question of poverty, it's how you spend your money.
I'll believe there's real poverty today when there's no cars, holidays abroad, footballers on around £10,000 a week - and everyone out there is walking around in rags, visiting soup kitchens three times a day.
