AS the organiser of the Leyland Society Rally, held on Sunday, July 11, at Leyland Trucks, on behalf of the Society and its members, I would like to thank to the residents of Leyland and surrounding areas.
About 100 Leyland lorries, buses and coaches visited the town to attend the first Society Rally and we would like to thank local people for their patience and tolerance of the disruption which was caused by the arrival and departure of these large vehicles.
We hope those who visited the rally enjoyed it and felt our efforts were up to the standards of the good name of Leyland.
Many of the Leyland vehicle owners were appreciative of the friendly welcome they experienced and expressed a desire to attend future events in the town.
Leylanders can rest easy next year as the Leyland Society will be holding its rally at the Science Museum near Swindon during the weekend of July 29,30.
Anyone interested in joining the Leyland Society should send an sae to Bruce MacPhee, PO box 27, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN40 2ZG.
Paul Mark Sennant, 1999 Rally Secretary
