LANCASHIRE County Council's deputy leader Frank McKenna has promised to work towards securing £25 million for Preston, following the county's success in attracting more than £20million in regeneration cash.
Coun McKenna said: "Obviously I am delighted that Lancashire did so well in the Single Regeneration Budget (round five).
"But we should never be complacent and we must start work now to ensure that areas that missed out this time - including Preston - put together robust SRB round six bids.
"Preston has already proved that it can establish successful partnerships, through the recent Education Action Zone bid.
"Now we must build a partnership for regeneration. Given the indicators of deprivation that Central Preston suffers from, I am confident that we can win £25m for Preston in the next SRB round."
Coun McKenna also confirmed that lobbying for European Objective and Status for Preston is continuing.
He added: "Objective 2 eligibility would be a massive boost for the town.
"It is time Preston started to punch its weight. Lancashire County Council is ready to help."
