WARM conditions brought out some top personal performances from young athletes at a Lytham school.
More than 250 competitors took part in the annual house athletics sports at King Edward VII School, Lytham.
Sprinters Tom Brooks (12) and Richard Whalley (13) set the standard, but it was the power and strength of Jonathan Fenech in the 400 and 800m which was the highlight of the afternoon. King Edward's athletics coach Phil Rudd was pleased with the determination of many competitors.
"We saw some very game performances," he said, "and I was pleased with the improvements in the standard of the shot and discus events."
Senior champion was John Hill of St Annes, while Argonauts took the team title after three hours of competition and 50 events.
