CARL Myerscough from Blackpool scored a shot and discus double at the CGU Under 23 International at Hexham on Sunday (July 18), but he refused to comment on his day's performances - such was his disappointment.
The 19-year-old giant, nicknamed the Blackpool Tower, has the chance of winning a medal at the forthcoming European Under 23 Championships in Sweden, but has been struggling to regain form, confidence and mobility since injuring himself on a flight back from the United States several weeks ago.
Despite his injury problems, Myerscough showed his incredible talent by taking the discus with 57.48 metres, followed by the shot with 18.62.
The match featured a three-way battle between Great Britain, Spain and France, with British athletes also chasing qualifying times for the European Under 23 Championships.
Great Britain went on to win the match with 275.5 points to France's 270 and Spain's 236.5.
