LISA Cartwright has won the BSF Tennis League ladies singles title for the 13th time in 16 years.
But it wasn't all plain sailing for the Hawkshaw ace as opponent, 17-year old Emma Tootell from Eagley TC, gave her one of the hardest fights that she has had to face in a final.
The first two sets went to tie-breaks at 6-6, with Lisa winning the first 7-2 and Emma taking the second 7-4.
In the third set, Lisa's strength and experience proved to be the deciding factor as she went on to win 6-2.
Lisa then returned to court for the ladies doubles final, where she suffered the same consequence as last year. Partnered on this occasion by her Hawkshaw teammate, Helen Teasdale, they played some good sound tennis but they were just not good enough for the Markland Hill number one ladies, Diane O'Brien and Jane Kehoe, who won 6-4, 6-4.
Nicole Ullathorne, another of the young Hawkshaw proteges, came up against last year's finalist in the girl's singles final.
She held her own up to 4-4 in the first set, but then Joanne Cain from Ellesmere found her true form and Nicola fell away failing to win another game.
The Hawkshaw roll of honour was completed when Adam Worsley won the men's plate easily in the third after a hard fight throughout the first two sets.
The entry from Holcombe Brook Sports Club was very thin this year, but Stephen Loster and Daniel Cheong provided some consolation by winning the boys' doubles title 6-2, 6-4 against Lostock's Lee Crimes and Nike Hermida.
