A £50,000 boost has been given to Bury schools to help children who are at sixes and sevens with numeracy.
And the Government cash will also aid pupils with literacy problems.
Welcoming the news, Bury North MP David Chaytor said: "From this autumn Bury schools will get nearly £50,000 to give special training to all Year 5 and 6 teachers. In addition, nearly £135,000 will be available over the next two years for schools to run extra literacy and numeracy classes."
