RETIREMENT plans have been put on hold for a headteacher who is set to chalk up three more years at school.
Mr Eric Wilson, headteacher at King David Junior School, was to retire in August. He celebrated his 65th birthday in May and governors at the school wrote to the Secretary of State for Education, Mr David Blunkett, to confirm that he could continue.
Mr Wilson, of Rochford Close, Whitefield, joined the Crumpsall school in 1974 and picked up a lifelong achievement award for teaching in May.
He will also continue as upper campus head at the school, which includes King David High School and the sixth form.
