IT'S not every day you have the chance to start up your own business.
But that's the unique opportunity the unemployed have been given, thanks to bosses at Radcliffe Market.
Newcomers have been given the chance to "go it alone" now that Bury Council's Markets Management have linked up with Bolton Bury Business Link to help the unemployed consider setting up their own business as a market trader.
With trading opportunities available from just £9 per day, they are certain there will be no shortage of takers.
Markets manager John Ayres said: "We have stalls available on our Tuesday, Friday and Saturday markets but that is not all. "Thanks to our tie-up with Business Link all potential new business start-ups may well be entitled to free grants, training and information packages, which can help them to succeed.
"At the market hall we have trading opportunities available in a number of categories from wallpaper to tools, crockery, hats, a frozen food outlet, dried flowers and arrangements, dress fabric, curtain fabric and lace curtains, as well as a wool stall, tapes and CDs, plus video and computer games.
"We think this is a real opportunity for those who have thought about setting up their own business, particularly those who have been out of work for some time.
"It offers the potential for growth but with realistic and manageable overheads.
"At the same time with the backing of Business Link there is real support for newcomers."
