TIM Flowers made his first pre-season appearance for Blackburn Rovers at Bloomfield Road on Saturday then revealed the depth of his frustration over the lack of interest in his services.

Flowers is available for transfer after having a request accepted by the board but there have been few signs of a move for the former England keeper.

Aston Villa were interested but then plumped for David James instead.

"Yes, I am frustrated. This time last year I was coming back from France (the World Cup) and I have gone from there to being a regular in the reserves and no-one seems interested," he said.

"But there's not a lot I can do about that.

"All I can do is work hard for Blackburn and hope that somebody notices at some time or another.

"I thought I might get away in the summer but it didn't materialise.

"Even before I reported back I was training. I have worked hard all summer. I'm that sort of build, a big lad and I need to train."

Flowers stressed that he would continue to do his best at Ewood and he was given a warm reception by the travelling fans at Blackpool. "I always train and play the very best I can and if that's good enough, or not good enough, in the club's eyes so be it. I can't do any more," he said.

"It's a matter of whether anybody is interested.

"At the moment they aren't so it's just bad luck for me.

"I enjoyed the game and the fans were absolutely brilliant. I couldn't believe how many were there.

"But I have been here six years and they aren't going to let silly things affect that.

"They know I have played it by the book with the club and vice-versa.

"We had that time when we were doing ever so well, they remember that and I am pleased they do."

Keith Gillespie also had his first pre-season run-out.

"I had no problems at all and probably lasted longer than I thought I would," said the winger.

"I felt fine."
