BLACKBURN with Darwen Council claims it wants to look after its tenants.
This is based on nothing but political dogma, for the evidence shows that they have completely failed as landlords.
They have accumulated massive debts in rent arrears and tenants who have done 'moonlight flits.'
With houses that need £100 million spent on them and a housing debt approaching a massive £90 million, the council charges the highest rents and has more unlet properties than it knows what to do with.
It is just a grotesque shambles, yet they still tinker about with what can only be the best solution for everyone.
That is to relinquish control and let somebody else have a go.
They have had 80 years experience in social housing and demonstrate through their mismanagement that they have learnt nothing over this period of time.
Council tenants cannot be worse off and things can only get better for them if they convince their political gurus to let go.
Consultants have told the council the best option and even their beloved Tony Blair wants rid of them.
So, councillors, why not?
