JASON Lobo is hoping for two more chances to clinch a place in the World Championships in Seville.
The Blackburn 800 metres man will be automatically selected for the Great Britain team following his second place in the AAA championship at Birmingham this weekend if he can shave 0.9 seconds off his personal best in order to meet the 1min 46.3secs qualifying standard.
Lobo is hoping that his first chance might come this weekend, either in Thurrock or Estonia.
And his final chance before the August 9 deadline is likely to come at the British Grand Prix meeting at Crystal Palace on August 7. As it stands, Curtis Robb, third on Sunday, and Andy Hart, who was fourth, have run the time needed for selection.
But if Lobo and the race winner, Mark Sesay, manage to meet the time, then Hart is likely to lose out as Robb is expected to clinch the discretionary third place.
Lobo said: "I am definitely in shape to run that time. I need a good race and decent conditions to run the qualifying time.
"I was disappointed to have lost my AAA title and disappointed to lose to Sesay because that is the first time he has beaten me over 800m.
"But I was only third fastest on paper going into the race.
"I would have preferred to go faster in the opening lap, which was a bit too slow and suited the people like Mark who are speed merchants."
