BUS driver John Taylor made a special visit to Burnley bus station yesterday, to thank the man who saved his life.
Mr Taylor, 68, of Ashenhurst Road, Todmorden, was working as a part-time driver for Rossendale Transport and was in the canteen at Burnley bus station when he suffered a heart attack.
He said: "I felt pains in my chest and realised what was happening.
"I told the inspector, David Auld, I had a problem and he immediately rang for an ambulance."
Mr Taylor spent four days in intensive care but is now back home making a recovery.
His wife, Priscilla, said: "I wrote to thank the inspector for saving his life and yesterday we went along to thank him in person."
Mr Taylor said: "I would also like to thank the hospital for what they have done. They have sent a nurse out to my home once a week and I am also attending physiotherapy, which helps with the recovery process."
Mr Auld is an inspector with Stagecoach and has worked on the buses for about 15 years, the last eight as an inspector.
He said: "This is something which happens from time to time on the bus station. We have all had to deal with similar problems before.
"It was obvious Mr Taylor was having problems. I just took him into the office and sent for the paramedics, who arrived quickly and took him to hospital."
