A HELICOPTER flight to a free day out at Alton Towers was the prize won by two youngsters who were chosen as Newspapers In Education Literary Achievers of the Year.
Fourteen-year-old Saiqua Jabeen and Meher Chowdry, 12, took part in the Super Story Search literary project and were chosen from several pupils nominated by their schools for the award.
Lancashire Evening Telegraph NIE co-ordinator Rita Shaw organised the competition. Staff at Saiqua's school, Walshaw High School in Burnley said their winner had worked hard to produce outstanding coursework, while teachers at Edge End High School, Nelson, said Meher had a "diligent, serious and reliable approach to literacy work."
Their prize was donated by the Heli 200 helicopter company operating from Blackpool Airport, whose aircraft flew into East Lancashire to pick up the winners and their guests.
