REGARDING the failed bid by Hyndburn Council to gain a grant from the Single Regeneration Budget (LET, July 15), it appears that Deputy Prime Minister John 'Two Jags' Prescott must have decided that Hyndburn didn't need the cash, on one of his visits to his new-found middle-class friends.
On face value, it seems funny that Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley and Rossendale are to receive financial help while Hyndburn has been overlooked. Could Labour losing control of Hyndburn in May have anything to do with it? Makes you think.
Also, concerning your article in the same issue about a grant from the Lottery Millennium Commission to Hyndburn to help celebrate the millennium, is it not a nonsense that Hyndburn cannot get money for things it really needs, yet can receive more than enough for singing and dancing.
Funny old world, aint it?
