BLACKBURN'S Tony Jackson was left to carry the flag for East Lancashire into the second round of the English Amateur Championship at St Mellion in Cornwall today.
Jackson was due to meet Zane Scotland, the teenager who qualified for the Open at Carnoustie, in round one but was given a walk-over when the youngster scratched.
Nick Dougherty, the England Boys Captain from Shaw Hill, near Chorley, failed to live up to his seeding when he lost to Bradford's Paul Thomas in his second round match yesterday.
Dougherty was four down with four to play before winning the 15th and 16th and eventually lost on the 17th.
