THE Environment Agency served an enforcement notice on Castle Cement's Ribblesdale works at Clitheroe yesterday after complaints of smells.
The firm was given four hours to sort out the problem. An agency spokesman said the problem was put right by the 8.30pm deadline.
Ian Sutheran, general manager of Ribblesdale works, said: "As soon as the Environment Agency informed Castle of the alleged breach, immediate action was taken to reduce throughput to the kiln."
