ANDY HALL was in quickfire mode as Atherton put the sizzle into their Bolton Assocociation title hopes.

They scored a nine-wicket win at Edgworth to cement their second-place posiition.

The home batsmen toiled away before Chris Locke came in and blasted a lusty 57 from 62 balls to take Edgworth's total to 148-5 with skipper Steve Walsh finishing with 4-31 from 21 overs.

In reply Hall blasted 74 from 79 balls while Paul Brown gave him solid support with 55 as Atherton coasted home.

Championship hopefuls Golborne fared less well as they hung on at 175-9 for a draw against Little Hulton.

The visitors made 180-9 with Mike Edwards turning it around from 60-4 to remain unbeaten on 60. Paul Robinson took 3-44 and Chris Benbow 3-32.

Golborne slipped to 53-5 before Robinson 43 and Benbow 55 came to the rescue. Lal Faraz ended with 5-52.

Bolton Association retained the Trinity Cup in dramatic style on Sunday.

They beat the Bolton League by 40 runs, fighting back from a disastrous 57-5 to set a respectable target of 157-7.
