A SPIRITED Lynx performance was not enough to prevent a fifth successive Northern Ford Premiership defeat.
But coach Steve Hampson can take heart from his team's impressive display of rugby league against a strong Featherstone side with Super League ambitions.
Lynx started well and scored first with a Paul Roberts penalty, which was followed by a Lee Prest try.
The home side could have gone further in front, but were pegged back seven minutes from the break when winger Matt Bramald evaded the Lynx tackles to score for the visitors. His try was converted by Jamie Rooney for a 6-6 half-time scoreline.
Featherstone appeared to move up a gear in the second half, and took the lead when Wayne Simmonds raced through to score the try of the match.
Lynx attempted to strike back, but were finally finished off in the last ten minutes when Bramald went over for his second try.
Defeat leaves Hampson's side second from bottom of the Northern Ford Premiership, but with renewed optimism that they can climb the table in their remaining games.
Lynx's next home match is on Sunday August 8, when Widnes Vikings are the visitors to Victory Park. The match ended Lancashire Lynx 8
Featherstone Rovers 16.
