AN Atherton-based small business has just made a specialist welding machine for the Chinese motor industry.
Now they are hoping to make a robot welder for a firm in Liverpool.
J.P. Evans Welding Supplies were given just three days to quote for the Chinese job.
"We had no drawings, no specifications to work from - just told what they wanted the welding cabinet to do," said boss Phil Evans.
"It took us five days to work it all out and we won the order. It took us two months to build the fully computer-programmed welding cabinet, well inside the delivery schedule.
"We had done work over the past 10 years for the American firm who wanted the cabinet."
Since then Phil's firm, with a workshop and stores in Ince, have made a similar cabinet for the UK.
You can see the cabinet, and even look inside it, on Phil's website at www.advanceuk.com/evanswelding/index.html
