THE first of two important weekend matches against Fylde League division 2 leaders Wyre resulted in disappointment for St Annes IV who were hit by late withdrawals.
Apart from a brave effort from young Jack Kelliher (14) and the classy Duncan Webb, who was unluckily dismissed for 19, there was little else.
Andy Broadbent and Tim Rawstron hung on for a while but found runs hard to score against tight bowling as St Annes finished on 76.
St Annes later bowled and fielded well in hot conditions, with Webb (2-32) and Dave Gamble (3-12) outstanding, but Wyre's aggressive batting won the day with 77-5.
