SAM Spence's remarks (Letters, July 7) concerning a planning application for houses on Ribblesdale Place, Blackburn, seems to suggest that there was some disagreement between the ward councillors as to whether the application should have been approved.
To set the record straight, we were all of the view that development of the vacant land was the best possible solution in resolving the problems of fly tipping, rubbish and associated problems and jointly we canvassed to ensure that the application was accepted.
It was Councillor Don Rishton, as a member of the planning committee, in consultation with the chairman, who moved the motion to accept the application, thus overturning the planning application report to 'refuse' and the application was approved.
COUN MOHAMMED KHAN (Wensley Fold Ward), Edmundson Street, Blackburn.
