A YOUNG St Annes cricketer has been called up by the England School's selectors.
Jack Kelliher, aged 13, of Hove Road in St Annes, has been invited to represent his country after an outstanding season for King Edward VII school and for the Lancashire U13s side.
Jack plays for St Annes and has gained his cap following a successful final trial at Bradford.
He will take part in a series of matches for England at Taunton next month.
Andy Weston, who runs the cricket at King Edward's, feels that Jack has a bright future ahead of him, and says: "Jack scored two centuries for the school this season and an aggregate of 72 in two county matches for Lancashire against Yorkshire.
"He is working very hard at all aspects of his game and is adding a sound technique to his natural batting talent."
Julian Wilds, headmaster of King Edward's, is delighted with Jack's selection.
"This is a great honour both for Jack and King Edward's," he commented.
"This follows Lee Hilton's selection for the U19s in 1997 so we are enjoying a very successful time with our cricket."
