ECCLESTON dug in to produce a fine victory over Joy Mining at Bobbies Lane on Saturday.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat - a fatal mistake, as they were shot out for 50.
Eccleston's heroes with the ball were D. Ashurst (3-10), A. Elliott (2-14), H. Ashurst (2-13) and P. Mathers (1-8).
Eccleston then suffered an early shock when opender Atherden went without scoring.
But Appleton and D. Ashurst (33 not out) steadied the ship and Eccleston won by seven wickets.
It was a similar story in the second team fixture when Eccleston dismissed the Wigan side for 90.
Pick of the bowlers were Johnson (3-21) and Holden (3-12).
It took Eccleston only 16 overs to reach the target.Ashton hammered 37, with only three singles in his innings and Gornall hit 30 in similar fashion.
