BILLINGE CC went on a run frenzy over the weekend.
It saw them reach a cup final and make good progress in the league.
The action started on Saturday with a 174-run win over Winwick.
Put into bat they soon had their opponents reeling, with Ste Middlehurst hitting a superb 103 and Carl Stockley a majestic and chanceless 50.
These two set a new Billinge partnership record of 153. Mike Ryan also played his part with a quick 20 not out. Only M Bratt had a good day with the ball for Winwick with 2/37.
In their reply Winwick were bowled out for 50, Andy Martin was the pick of the Billinge bowlersfinishing with 3-10 with the rest of the attack taking wickets.
On Sunday Billinge reached their third cup final of the season by beating Singlehurst in the Hanson Cup by 148 runs. Batting first Andy Lyon 61, ripped the heart out of the Singlehurst bowlers, backed up by a typically robust 48 by Shaun Middlehurst and a solid 43 from Andy 'Digger' Martin and a quickfire 17 by Carl Stockley. There was also a steady knock of 19 not out by Mike Ryan, who seems to be playing for his averages already. T Ashe toiled hard for his side finishing with 4-47.
Carl Stockley 2-20 soon had Singlehurst in trouble by removing two of the top order very cheaply. 'Digger' Martin continued his rich vein of form claiming 2-25, Mike Grime had no luck with his unplayable quick bowling, all this left Shaun Middlehurst to stop the Singlehurst tail from wagging, helping himself to 3-6. The only Singlehurst batsman to show any kind of resistance was Donavon who hit a classy 28.
