MAY I ask for Citizen readers' help in tracing surviving relatives of Gunner John (Jack) Morgan Crabtree who served with B Battalion 286th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery (no 681023) and was killed in France on June 8, 1917.
Mr Morgan was the first husband of my mother Eva (ne Rowson) and I'm Eva's son from her second marriage. They married on Christmas Day 1915 and initially lived with Jack's parents at 3 Hawthorn Road, Blackpool.
Jack had a sister who I think was called Hannah and a dog called Paddy. My mother died in 1973 leaving a mass of papers, including all Jack's letters from France. He wrote twice weekly from his arrival there until he was killed.
They are a most moving and touching record which my family and I think may be worthy of publication.
But we would not go ahead with this without the agreement of any surviving relatives.
