PREPARATIONS for a possible £6m windfall start next week in Tyldesley.
Traders and others with business and manufacturing interests in the area are invited to Tyldesley Chamber of Trade meeting which starts at 6pm in Lordy's/ Bar 110, Elliott Street. Chamber chairman Mike Norris explained: "Because of its size Tyldesley was excluded from Single Regeneration Budget 5, which earmarked funds for Atherton.
"Now Tyldesley is in line for SRB6 funding. We hope we get it because it means a probable £5-6m for the area.
"Now we're trying to get more people involved - shopkeepers and others in the service and manufacturing industries."
The bulk of the money could be spent on town centre improvements and job creation.
Invited to the meeting are the Mayor and Mayoress, police Supt Malcolm Howells, town centres co-ordinator Annette Deakin and Mark Bigley from Wigan Borough Partnership.
