RADIO DJ Gary Burgess has returned to work to find out he has a new boss.
Blackpool station The Wave has been bought, along with eight others, by Talk Radio in a multi-million pound deal
The national group, which was previously speech-based, acquired the Radio Partnership - The Wave's holding company for the past two years - as its first music venture.
But as far as Gary and his colleagues are concerned it will be business as usual.
Radio Partnership finance director Eric Lawrence explained: "Everything remains the same in terms of the radio stations.
"It's an ambition of Talk Radio to develop a major force in the industry and they've got a good deal.
"This is their first venture into music radio and they've chosen one of the best operators."
Meanwhile, Gary who returned to his desk on Monday (July 26) after chemotherapy, admitted his first Drivetime show in three months this week was tiring but a lot of fun.
"I couldn't stop shaking for the first half hour," he told the Citizen. "I kept missing buttons but after a while it was like I'd never been away.
"The number of phone calls and faxes from people was amazing. I had half a dozen from strangers who had cancer and I was swapping experiences with them.
"By 6pm I was ready for going to bed, though," he said with a laugh.
Talk Radio is headed by Kelvin McKenzie, flamboyant former editor of The Sun.
